Specialist Leader in First World War Education
Mrs Goodyear - our Lead Practitioner in Humanities has been awarded the title of Specialist Leader in First World War Education. This award comes after 4 years of work and began in 2014, 100 years after the outbreak of the First World War. Mrs Goodyear has implemented many projects during this time, such as the giant poppy you can see at the front of the school and many tours of the battlefields in both Belgium and France. She also coordinated local schools to present an exhibition of work related to World War One, this exhibition was on display at the Queen's Theatre, Hornchurch. One of the most poignant projects Mrs Goodyear organised was in 2016, on the anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, when she led a group of Emerson Park pupils as they took part in an all-night vigil in Westminster Abbey around the tomb of the unknown soldier.
A well-deserved award.
